What type of massage can I receive at Yuva Medical Spa?
Athens Swedish Massage
Swedish Massage is a gentle massage that uses long, flowing strokes to reduce pain and relieve muscle tension. Swedish massage uses firm but gentle pressure to promote relaxation, ease muscle tension and create other health benefits. This is a great massage for those new to the massage experience, as it is a gentle introduction that is considered to be the most enjoyable of all massage techniques. You can always ask you massage therapist to apply more or less pressure. If you are looking for a very strong and deep massage, we recommend you try the deep tissue massage.
Athens Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage is a much deeper manipulation of the muscle to help release specific problem muscle groups. This procedure focuses on realigning muscles and connective tissue. Those who are chronically tense and have stiff necks, low back tightness, and sore shoulders are likely to benefit from this therapy.
The movement tends to be slower, with deeper pressure focused on concentrated areas of the body where the tension is greatest. Deep tissue massage releases the tension from the bands of rigid tissue in ligaments, tendons, and muscles providing relief from the constant pulling and pain associated with stiffness. Stiffness in the worst of cases has been known to cause excessive pain and inflammation, block circulation, and lack of full movement.
Athens Medical Massage
This massage treatment is tailored to your specific health condition. Some examples include migraines, fibromyalgia, repetitive stress injuries, sciatica, MS, arthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome, and frozen shoulder. Medical massage incorporates a variety of modalities which may include very light to deep pressure, heat or cold application, and range of motion techniques.
Athens Sports Massage
Sports massage therapy helps alleviate stress and tension built up in the body's soft tissues due to physical activity. Minor injuries and lesions occur in these areas due to repetitive use. Sports massage helps athletes prepare to perform at their best, avoid fatigue, reduce swelling, reduce tension, improve flexibility, and prevent possible injuries.
Techniques used in Sports massage include deep tissue, joint mobilization, neuromuscular facilitation (passive & active stretching), and Swedish to remove toxic buildup in the muscles.
Athens Hot Stone Massage
Before you arrive, the massage therapist sanitizes stones of various sizes and then heats them in water. Once the therapy has begun the therapist warms up the body with Swedish massage, then massages while holding a heated stone. As the stones begin to cools, the therapist replaces them with others in order to keep a constant rotation of hot stones. The therapist leaves stones at specific points along the spine, in the palms, stomach, and feet to improve circulation in your body. Research shows that as stones cool, they can be used to treat inflammation, producing a unique therapeutic effect.
Athens Prenatal Massage
Massage therapy performed during pregnancy can reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle tension, improve joint flexibility, and add to the overall health of the newborn.
Increasing blood flow throughout the body has been shown to help pregnant women reduce hormones related with stress, reduce nerve pain associated with uterus, and relax the muscles associated with pregnancy like the lower back and hips.
Athens Reflexology
Reflexology is based on the idea that the body is mirrored in the foot and hand, and that stress can be relieved through applying pressure to the foot.
By stimulating and applying pressure to the feet or hands, circulation is increased and specific body and muscular functions are affected. Reflexology is great for those who are new to massage or are in too much pain for a body massage.
Athens Seated Massage: The Stress Buster Express
The seated massage is given in a massage chair, with clothing on, and is a growing trend in offices, malls, and other gathering places. If you have time during the day, like a lunch hour, you can swing by and get a quick relief from the daily grind. The neck, shoulders, back, and arms are massaged revitalizing your body and helping you unwind.
